Favorite Books for Gift Giving

Babies, Toddlers, and Preschoolers

I love giving book gifts! What I don’t like is accidentally gifting a title someone already owns, or watching Mom-To-Be open the third copy of I’ll Love You Forever at a baby shower. I have a small list of favorite books that (hopefully) won’t need to be returned or donated.

The Book of Nursery Rhymes 50 Classic Poems for Children by Debi Gliori

Nursery rhymes have lasted hundreds of years for a reason. Babies love rhythm. Tired parents can (hopefully) remember four or five lines when they’re soothing an infant. Later on, Debi Gliori’s illustrations give toddlers and preschoolers lots of things to explore.

Yellow book cover with a white dog on the right and a brown bear on the left. Text: Left hand, right hand Little Simon Says

Left Hand, Right Hand by Dori Elys and Ekaterina Trukhan

This board book has all the fun textures for toddlers to touch. Later on, kindergarten teachers and driver’s ed instructors love students who know left from right.

Book cover with pictures of baby animals. Text: Animals Here we Grow! Shelly Rotner

Animals Here We Grow! by Shelly Rotner

Shelly Rotner was a National Geographic photographer and it shows. Her preschool books cover topics like animals, colors, and seasons. All of them feature amazing pictures kids love to look at over and over.
